Turkey has long been considered the perfect
holiday destination and now, since foreigners have been allowed
to purchase
real estate
in the last few years, a perfect place for investment, with
prices at present compared to Spain in the ‘80’s and
appreciating by as much as 30%, or more in some areas. A cultural
meeting of East and West, world class cuisine and over
8,000km of beautiful coastline, Turkey has stunning scenery
and friendly,
welcoming people. With over 300 days of sunshine each year
and Turkey’s eventual accession into the EU, it is a very
wise investment.
“The Turkish government views the encouragement
and protection of investment as a fundamental element in the development
strategy of the nation”. |

each other by car and so one can have an extremely varied holiday.
The area is also convenient for Ephesus and many other sites

Bodrum |
One of the most cosmopolitan resorts in Turkey, with it’s
pretty whitewashed houses and tumbling bougainvillea, Bodrum
is a lively place with a colourful nightlife. There are plenty
of shops in the maze of backstreets near the Castle and Bodrum
is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the
Tomb of King Mausolus. It is the yachting centre of the Aegean
and the Marina is full of expensive international yachts and
traditional wooden gulets. Bodrum effortlessly combines ancient
and modern in a beautiful setting.

Gumusluk |
Standing on the site of the
ancient city of Myndos, who’s
seafront sections slid into the sea in some long forgotten earthquake,
Gumusluk is a conservation area and has retained all of it’s
traditional charm. A small fishing village, you can watch the fisherman
bring in their catch in the morning and maybe try some for lunch
or dinner that same day, in one of the many local fish restaurants.
Take a walk across the partially sunken ruins of the ancient city
to ‘Rabbit Island’ in the bay and admire the view of
this beautiful village. Our fist property was bought in Gumusluk!

Turgutreis |
The second largest town on the peninsula, named after the great
Turkish Admiral of the same name. As well as the many popular
restaurants around the harbour, Turgutreis is famous for
its long stretch of sandy beach and shallow waters, making
it ideal
for families. Just over a year ago, we purchased a villa
here, specifically for families wanting to rent a holiday
home.

Yalikavak |
As well as being a popular destination for UK and European holidaymakers,
Yalikavak is also very popular with the Turkish themselves, being
the choice of many celebrities which lends a certain sophistication
to the area! Recently two charming old windmills in the centre
of the village have undergone restoration, which helps keep the
traditional charm of the area. Some of our favourite restaurants
are here along the harbour!

Bitez
|
A pretty resort with an excellent beach, very popular
with watersports enthusiasts due to the excellent conditions
in the bay. Bitez is one of the greenest places on the
peninsula with mandarin orchards all around the resort.
The nightlife is a little quieter than some of the other
locations and is centred around the restaurants lining
the seafront. When family come to visit us we always spend
a day on the beach here!.

Torba
Smaller than some of the resorts on the peninsula Torba is very quaint
with stunning scenery. Due to its proximity to Bodrum, it is a popular
swimming and lunch spot. It is also the terminus for ferry services
between the Bodrum Peninsula and Didyma where day excursions can be
made to be famed Temple of Apollo.
Marmaris
|
Marmaris is one of Turkey's biggest tourist resorts,
it sits on a wide bay at the place where the Aegean and
Mediterranean seas meet protected by beautiful pine forested
mountains. It has excellent services, entertainment and
shopping facilities and several large marinas. In the
old part of the town the houses are all under preservation
orders and the narrow streets leading to them are a delight
to explore. The nearby resort of Icmeler, 5 minutes away
by Dolmus, has a great stretch of sandy beach and watersports
available. Marmaris is a bustling resort with modern
hotels, local and international restaurants, great shops
and plenty of nightlife!
